Ok, the movie was good bordering on very good, IMO. I can't really be too demanding "given the given" culturally. In other words, I'm grateful that a half-decent, big budget movie was made about an essential aspect of Disco History, that being Thee Legendary, One and Only, Studo 54.
And this soundtrack does an excellent job of compiling a mostly funky selection of BIG DISCO HITS that crossed over and/or were also Top 40. Some of the mixes are are full-length and some are short edits, which can actually be useful if you want to play a set of "obvious" disco classics without wearing out anyone's patience, including your own. The only disappointing (to me anyway) cuts on this compilation are the 2 most "recent" ones, which makes this a truly excellent value: there are 32 tracks on this double CD. Now if only there were a vinyl version, with all the full length mixes...THAT would be a mother of a box-set!
