An excellent "90s revival" compilation, especially after considering that 90s Euro Dance and other 90s genres such as Gabber, Happy Hardcore etc. don't get as much exposure or revivals as e.g. 80s Italo Disco or Synth-pop, and so compilations such as this one are rarer to come by.

And, yet, they did a good job with this one: the tracks span strictly the 90s, ranging from the early 90s house/techno/acid rave era (e.g. Rotterdam Termination Source, N.U.K.E., Double You etc.), to the golden age of Euro in the mid 90s (Snap, USURA, Cappella, DJ Bobo, Captain Hollywood Project...), to the last breaths in late 90s, exploring practically all side-genres like Happy Hardcore and Gabber (Da Hool, Party Animals, etc.) and a few Soul tracks in the 100 tracks that make up this compilation.

However, for what I can only assume were copyright/licensing reasons, many "big" names are mysteriously absent (e.g. 2 Unlimited, Dune, E-Rotic, Masterboy, etc.), perhaps detracting a bit from the value of this compilation.

Furthermore, the track selection and mixing quality varies a lot between CDs. If I were to rate each CD individually, I'd say CD1 would be 5/5, CD2 would be 4/5, and CD3 would be 3/5. The reason? The track selection, while excellent in CD1, declines a bit in CD2 with all those downtempo/soul tracks at the beginning, and in CD3 it's even worse. Mixing quality also varies: it goes from beat matching and sample backgrounds, to abrupt cassette-like cuts....seriously guys? Even Groovy Mix from FM records was better than that! Having limited licensing options and wanting to throw in other genres like carnival-like Latin, Europop or Hip-Hop...not good.

Despite all that, all discs have a solid Dance/Gabber part, and for that reason alone this is a worthwhile compilation, setting it apart from other "best of 90s" product that only focus on pop and rock and maybe a couple of tracks from few specific genres and artists, e.g. Snap and maybe 2 Unlimited, missing a lot of the exotic genres the 90s had to offer. Not that this compilation is entirely immune to this trend, but at least it has the ratios reversed: more euro dance and gabber than other genres.

I'd say it's a compilation worth its money, even though the lack of certain artists prevent me from calling it "complete". It could also do with a booklet of sorts for as it is it feels incomplete. For the above reasons, I feel it can't honestly go beyond 4 stars, despite being well worth its money.
