This is an excellent pressing. Here are five more words.

Agreed...very bad sound. And the weird cutout on the front cover cuts into the Ronettes. I’ll look for a reasonably priced original.

I bought this in a (sadly no more) bona fide record store. And now I find its unofficial.

Sound quality on this one is very bad. Sounds as if it is recorded from a low quality mp3 file, and upon further research it seems that this label (DOL) is known for public domain releases, non-licensed. Most releases from them are digital transfers, see: Forum Thread #700836. The songs here and the music however is superb and essential for every holiday season, but i would not recommend this release, even for the low price.

Featuring the inimitable "Wall of Sound" production in all of its mono glory, this remastered version of the original pop-inflected Yuletide material is the most accessible and aurally pleasing digital format on which this classic album has been released. I would go as far to say that you need look no further in acquiring another mastering of it, however, if it was ever to be reissued in an uncompressed mix directly from the master tapes then I would most definitely double dip, but currently this still-in-print 2009 CD issue is the only option to hear the original mix digitally, and as mono is the only way to hear Phil Spector's inarguable masterpiece, it is an essential purchase for any fan of the 1960s girl group sound or expertly crafted pop music in general. RATING: *****

A wonderful surprise. Excellent sound quality and a flawless pressing. Easily the best picture disc I’ve heard. Although it’s an unofficial pressing, this is still very pleasing. Especially for the price I paid. Recommended!

Despite extensive research I have not been able to locate any information on the subject as to whether this is a Mono or stereo version. I have played it with my Ortofon 2M Mono SE (Kenwood KD8030) and it sounded great with depth and space. I will test with my Nagaoka MP500 (Kenwood KD750) to have a listen with a stereo cartridge and post my impressions (Both are connected to a Denon PRA1500/POA2200, using Dynavox High-End LS Cables with Gato Audio PM 6 speakers)

The definitive Christmas album. In stereo! Always gets played at the festive season in my household.
