This one was a noble idea. Garage bands in the late 70s, early 80s submitting their songs to Voxx for a battle of the bands compilation. As with any compilation, some songs are ringers, some are duds. This one has some of both.

I don't really like any of the 70s/80s revival 'paisley underground' bands. Their hearts were in the right place but the production was always too squeaky-clean for me. Most of the bands I found pretty dull and after getting burned a few times I would always run back to my old Pebbles compilations. If I wanted to hear a late 70s/early 80s version of psychedelia I would be more likely to turn to Chrome or The Residents, bands like that.

This has a few decent tracks but also some unneccessary covers of 60s classics... don't attempt Pushin Too Hard unless you can best The Seeds (highly unlikely).
The Plasticland track is great though and thorougly redeems the record for me. Office Skills is short and sharp with a memorably melodic tune, witty lyrics and best of all - a telephone type distorto vocal. Good track.
