In the early 90s, California developed a sound that was a breakbeatish, parallel -to-rave proto-trance "progressive" house thing, a sound that was surely influenced by what was happening in the UK at the time, but a sound that had by 1994 evolved into its own thing. This comp gives a perfect example of how serious producers were at the time in crafting this sound, a sound that has all the vibrancy alive to this very day .

Surtainly this record must be THE blueprint for the early 90's San Francisco psychedelic house and breakbeat sound. A truely a great compilation, six very different tracks and yet they fit beautiful together.
A side track 1: Cantamilla is one of the most beautiful downtempo tracks I know, very emotional and a great composition, best track on this record IMO. A side track 2: This is the somewhat more energetic mix of 3 Nudes by Hawke, which is a good choice for this EP. A side track 3: Energize by Island Universe is, like the title hints, a sublime energetic breakbeat tune whith loads of funny samples, breaks and scratch-sounds. Very well produced track taken from the Trip 'N Spin label.
B side track 1: Greg Scanavino always made epic breakbeat soundscapes, this being one of his best. Very diverse track that changes mood quite a few times during the tune. B side track 2: Funk You Very Much is the weakest track on this EP IMO. B side track 3: A Taste Of Your Own Medicine is a true trance tack, not the trance like made now a days, but real hypnotic stuff. This is the only house track on this vinyl.

I do however think it's a shame the other 4 tracks that appear on the CD did not make it to this EP. I would have prefered a double 12" with all the tracks from the CD.

Also the artwork is superb and realy relates to the music.

As stated on the front of the sleeve:

"The Ultimate Cyberhippy Experience".

And that's exactly what it is......
