Notes

In 2002, SSS Records released Circuits of Steel to showcase Pittsburgh's electronic music scene. The compilation was celebrated with a week of release parties and generous regional press. A dozen artists embarked on two summer tours, playing over 30 cities. Since then, several artists from the compilation have gained fame, signing to independent labels and touring the U.S. and Europe. Yet in Pittsburgh, there is much to be done. Retro rock still reigns, and many think that electronic music is nothing but a DJ. So, Circuits of Steel has returned with Volume II, where the listener will find the latest lineup of Pittsburgh electronic musicians, all of whom perform live. Running the gamut from experimental sound manipulation to straightforward synth-pop, they all share a spirit of innovation and creativity, like the high-tech companies and universities that make Pittsburgh their home in the post-industrial age. It's 2007, people -- time to get with the program!
