Superb soul release on Play US with a bounty of original soul masterpieces. The Tragar & Note labels release details the story of Jesse J. Jones, the saxophonist/producer/label boss from Atlanta who missed his glory shot in Los Angeles, returning home to head up Tragar and Note. Both labels released a string of excellent singles that flew under the radar due to possibly Jones’s early industrial blacklisting through to his laidback promotional nous. Head for Tee Flechers ‘Down In The Country’, the breakbeat madness of Franciene Thomas ‘I’ll Be There’ and L Daniels furious funk of ‘Nitecap’.
