Matsuri Productions has attained quite a bit of fame and acclaim amongst classic Goatrance lovers. I can safely say, this CD has some contribution to that status.

Digitalis (aka Shakta) starts us out with some proper oldschool intricate psychedelia followed by XIS. Now, I wasn't too familiar with XIS before this CD, but this track just grabbed me by the gonads and swung my mind about a bit ! Top stuff ! The Spacecat track doesn't really follow XIS too well, but its a decent track nonetheless. I always like Tsuyoshi's work and Kollage here is no exception. The Freeman track really wasn't my cup of tea, neither was the track by Scare-Electric, which is drum'n'bass..? (i'm not really much for genre's so dont crucify me here) Very A grade stuff by Quirk too with Dark Matter - superb track!

All in all, an easy 4.5 of 5 stars!

Exceptional tracks: 1, 2, 6!!

Another Solid comp from Matsuri here folks. Prana's Kollage is a well known and well loved trip through Prana-land. The comp would be worth it just for this classic alone. But better still, the rest of it is pretty damn good to boot. Quirk's Dark Matter is an excellent track by this group I am usually not so excited about. Groovy simple bass with lots of bangs and clacks to make the head spin.

Space Cat gives us another great track with another semi-classic number, "Space Cats". Nice and growly yet melodic, this is a strong track with its feet planted strongly in th Israeli tradition. Scare Electric offers use some breaks actions. While I like psy-breaks, this track doesn't do a lot for me and strikes me as the weakest link on the compilation.

X.I.S.'s Shadows and Flashes brings things back to the fuller-oner side of psy. Starting dark and brooding, Shadows works into a nice stomper with a nice mix of new and old school elements. Telepresence, by Digitalis (AKA, Seb Taylor, i.e. Shatka) shows us the breaker side of Seb Taylors work, while not going into full on breaks mode. Again a solid track which also appears on the Digitalis The Third State album.

Dendron (Merv) starts out the third disc with Sun-God. The track is a bid more laid back, but good in an Eat Static sort of way. Freeman Vs Liquid Metal's Liquid Noise is hands down my favorite track on a really good comp. Groovy, busy, full on psy, but with a lot of turn arounds and breaky bits. Excellent stuff to get the floor moving. Deflo finishes off the comp with Naked. This track is pretty good, but it unfortunately suffers from being right after Liquid Noise and can't help but seem lacking, especially in the kick department. That said it is still a good track and it works up into a nice frenzy in the second half. Again Matsuri shows its love for breaks here, although much of the track is a straight up number.

End result - Forever Psychedelic is a very strong comp and one of my favorite of the Matsuri compilations.

This is a really good comp from Matsuri. The tracks range from full- on psy to more breakbeat trance, but they all have a dark electro taste to them. Even the Prana track doesn't go full-on Goa. Indicative of 1998- style releases.
