I know people who hold this compilation in extremely high regard, but honestly I'm left slightly disappointed by it. If you're a fan of Gatecrasher-style trance then on paper the tracklist is incredible, many of those featured were only just released but have since become genre defining classics, and with so many contributions from the Anjunabeats label we see for the first time what a major player they were to become.

Disc 1 starts well enough and journeys through some less well-remembered tracks, some of which are perhaps a little too forgettable and there is a temptation to skip ahead with the promise of discs 2 and 3 to come. It builds reasonably well into the harder stuff at the end and Bond manages to leave the flange effect alone for the most part (see 'Crasher Live' album).

Disc 2 begins with the epic unreleased version of 'Halcyon' but the severe let-down is the mixing. Beatmatching is fine but it seems too many tracks are left to fade out to the kick drum before the next track comes in. Transitions that are harmonic and could have been brought in a minute earlier instead feel drawn out and boring. I feel bad criticising Hardwick who was normally spot on, as his disc of 'Resident Transmission 1' shows.

Luckily it is both DJs' positive elements which come out on disc 3 which is more enjoyable to listen to, although does stay on virtually the same path for the entirity.
