It was mid 1996 when this release came out and this series would still be running after 14 years, making it the longest running goa series. Volume 1 is a collection of tracks from 1995 mainly and at least one from 1994. Classics like Lunar Cycle, Mahadeva (Original), Granada, Star Above Parvatti, Tempest, Waiting For a New Life and Moonraker (M.W.N.M. remix) are all there. Other less famous tracks are:

Atomic Armadillo – typical wicked and mad trance from this unfortunately not-for-long active duo; a 150 BPM tempo freak track with the unmissable acid trade-mark by the Nuns. Check also their remix of “Probe” on disc 2.

Next Stop Oblivion – under the Z to A moniker, Jeroen Van Garling better known as Synchro provides a groovy tune with a certain club feeling created by some catching vocals from Zoe Jackson. The music is pure psychedelic, but those female vocals make it sound “lighter”.

Mars - easily my favourite from Juno Reactor. I had this track on a 1995 mix tape with no titles. It was the end track on this tape, and I always thought it is 2 tracks not one. This track infact changes sound and mood after 2 minutes or so and keeps morphing like if you're travelling into different dimensions (watch the track name:)) Quite a happy surprise when I discovered it on this CD.

Exquisite Sin – The original is a Hard Trance record but Disco Volante managed to transform it into a decent psychedelic workout. Still, I prefer the original, psychedelic doesn't always mean better ;)

Alien Patrol – this track is sourced from the Mystical Experiences album, and is the only ambient track on this release.

Major Frequencies – Witchcraft is a collaboration between Israeli artists Izik Levy (Sandman) and Rami Shapira (Chakra). This has a very Israeli sound, melodic all through, very deep, very nostalgic.

Two tracks which are unfitting and ruin the flow on both discs are “Sonar Eclipse ” and “Elysian Fields”. They are Progressive trance tracks. But let's forgive Goa-Head, nothing is perfect ;)

For the number of classics it has and the number of lesser good but still decent tracks it also has this compilation is still a safe purchase. As an extra you have a very beautiful coverart too.
