I have to agree with Johnny in that "Black VIP" is the best tune on this album hands down, and tbh I'd say the sketchy mastering finishes it off by making it the hardest and grittiest tune on here. Heavy, bouncy basslines team up with slammin' amens to obliterate everything in their path as a timestretched vocal flutters and flies around transforming into all kinds of different shapes.

Tango's "Paragone VIP" is second best with a fuckin meeeean bassline and tearin' amens, along with a dark synth-y string section that adds a special Tango/Fallout flavor to it.

To me every mix of "The Lighter" sounds the same, then again i have a bias against it because I've never liked it. But enough of that, I don't wanna come off as an ass, if people like it then that's cool.

Point is, incredible tunes, great album.

Mr. DJ Brown below, I disagree with. Firstly, the version of "Lighter" on this album is not objectively better than the famous one, and I don't think it's anywhere near as elegant or cleverly put together. Secondly, it is not harder to get than the original "Lighter" press, this album is far less rare than original presses of "Lighter". The best tune on this album? Hmmn, difficult, but the biggest one I am guessing was "Black" VIP, cool track but mastered very sketchily!

The lighter has been known as a jump up jungle classic since its release, with numerous updates and remixes. However, the version on this album is by far the best: having been released at the same time it is faithful enough to the original, the only major difference being a fresher, bouncier and better bassline, yet it is the hardest one to obtain as it only appears on this album and is as such less well known that its contemporaries.

This album is a fantastic example of what made Formation Records THE record most dynamic jungle label in late 1995 and built on its already impecable rave pedigree & marking the pinnacle of its success.

EXCELLENT album. The title says it all. Lots of female vocal samples, amen breaks, and deep bouncy basslines. Every track on this LP is great! If you are into oldskool jungle, then I recommend this as a great asset to your collection.
