Shouldn't this be recorded under Larry Levan and not "Various"?

i havent heard the UK version, but this US pressing is...i dont know..a proper joke to say the least. Even the mp3s you can get online sound far superior, and way more natural than these records. the only playable track is the Lover's Holiday, luckily it's one of the highlights. On the other hand you get the worst sounding "Havent you heard" ever pressed..so if you re buying this because of the patrice Rushen song - dont do that..the guitar solo, and the vocal track make your average youtube clip sound like proper hi-fi..

The discs are rock solid, 160g each - it looks and feels expensive, problem is that it sounds like there was no test pressing and no audio evaluation of the final product. Larry Levan would be the last guy to play these records, and would have never allow his name used for anything sounding like this.

Very good overview of the most famous tracks in Larry Levan's playlist. Of course there got to be a few hundred more and one would wish this compilation was the first in a series to come. Rhino left us here with just one Volume. The only negative point here to be mentioned is the compressed loudness mastering.

Fantastic collection of Garage classics, and essential for anyone wanting to learn about classic underground soulful disco and the Garage/Larry in general.
The pressing, however is not stellar. The sonics were compromised due to squeezing too much music on each side. Each side should have been dedicated to a single track.
