An amazing soundtrack from a less than spectacular film. At this stage, hip hop and rock music had only crossed paths a few times: Run DMC and Aerosmith being the trailblazers that helped bring hip hop into the mainstream. Bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Faith No More had hit the big time by '93, adding elements of rap to their alternative rock sound. But it was really Anthrax teaming up with Public Enemy to cover Bring the Noise that set the template for this release. This album, along with the growing popularity of Rage Against the Machine, broke down any remaining barriers between the two sounds and created hip hop's enduring popularity in the alternative music scene.
