You can't overlook a single track on this comp. Every tune SMOKES and is straight from the soul. Easily my favorite comp Now-Again has put out, which is saying quite a lot considering they're all curated with attention and care - a true love and passion for digging the rare. Favorite cut is Thomas East "Slippin' Around". The tightness on this set is unreal, and you know its hot when youre saying to yourself, out loud "give the fuckin drummer SOME" less than a minute in. That, accompanied with an unreal piano riff got this one on constant repeat.

Anyways, do yourself a favor and squeeze whatever pennies you need to out of your dresser's ceramic pig and BUY this shit because everyone involved in this production deserves the fullest respect - the cuts on here are no exception. You know shits ill when you hear a tune and have to ask yourself where it came from, then are provided with not only an answer, but a photo and a small dissertation on each number thanks to the book these dudes put together that comes with the album. This really pushes the artist's personal story as hard - if not more so - than the music within. Now-Again has done an excellent job brining the fullest attention they can to the artists here, and when you hear their music, you'll share in the same clarity of understanding.

Twist one up and slow burn to this monster. Soul & Mind: Elevation.
