this lp is a must own for anyone out there who calls themselves an OLD SCHOOL METAL FAN!!!!, i remember when this record came out at the end of 1982 and like an idiot i did not buy it, i did finally buy a copy 32 years late recently, this is probably the rarest lp and most sort after from the long ago defunct ebony records from hull in the uk, this label launched in 1982 and lasted until it went bust 5 years later in 1987, this label had some awesome bands and i still own the original lps by samuri, chataux, syron vains as well as quite a few others chataux was my favorite band on this label releasing 3 classic albums from 1983 through 1985 before they split, anyway the thing that makes this compilation so great is this label was very dedicated to the nwobhm movement that was storming the uk from 1979 until 1982 sadly for this label 1982 was the real last great year for NWOBHM regardless of what anyone tells you, i remember becouse i was there, i still live in new york but i remember those years all to well when every friday or saturday i would go into the local shop that specialized in hm imports and there would be like 5 new killer titles out of the uk every week and i only had enough money for 2 lps, anyway this was a fantastic time to be a hard rock or metal fan but sadly mtv and looking pretty around late 1983 and into 1984 destroyed all of this, anyway what you have here is the FIRST EVER TRACK BY MERCYFUL FATE TO BE RELEASED ON VIYNL. this album came out before the nuns have no fun 12 inch in the netherlands at the end of 1982, besides mercyful fate WOW!!! you get a great assortment of a few other bands that had just sighned to ebony in 1982, most of the songs on here are killer, they where recorded on a low budget and knowing in advance they where going to be lucky just to get a gig opening for some other band at the marquee in london or something like that, they knew this was not wemby arena or madison sq garden rock THIS WAS FREAKIN UNDERGROUND AND IT WAS OURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! most then teenagres like me took a lot of crap fropm others in school for embracing this but THIS WAS WHAT MADE ME AND JUST A FEW OTHER KIDS have some of the best times i EVER had in my life!!!! i still feel that way to this day METAL was not cool and mainstream in 1981 or 82, anyway these tracks on this record are raw, heavy and a bit amature at times BUT THAT IS WHAT MADE A RECORD LIKE THIS SO DAMN GREAT!!!! just look at the awful artwork, wow brings back some priceless memories from a time 30 years gone now, anyway enough of my rant if you liked iron maiden, judas priest, saxon, tank, venom, raven, bleak house, witchfynde, gaskin, the e.f band, picture and all that other stuff from 1980--82 then THIS IS A NO BRAINER YOU MUST OWN THIS LP................
