Although most associate early New York H.C. as: A.F., Urban Waste, Abused, Antidote (etc) and their expensive ep's.. this was the stuff most people outside of New York first heard back then ( and I mean bands associated with the term-"hardcore punk") This tape had good distribution and Tim Sommers of "Noise The Show"..and the person who compiled this, would report the latest NY punk happenings in mainstream music magazines, such as "Sounds", he even reviewed the Disco Smoothie, aka Cro-Mags, first gig in that magazine- although no one had a clue who these bands actually were in 1982, but he gave these local groups some exposure at least, which actually lead to Kraut getting a UK release..
anyway lots of great tracks on here.. even if a few were old or already available..
John Peel played about 6 tracks from this tape one night on his radio show in '82.. "Riot Fight" might still be my fave thrash song from New York.
