In 2001, the music magazine Ear 30 years and that was celebrated with the release of a double cd with highlights from 30 years of pop music (according to ear). This now appears per decade another double-cd, for which one can dig deeper into the archives. As far as the 1970s this resulted in a very pleasant collector with relatively unknown artists such as Captain Beefheart, Andy Pratt, Todd Rundgren, The Sparks, Little Feat, Television, Wire and Southside Johnny.
