This compilation is definitely among my favourite cd compilations, to be fair it isn't as good as the first Paradise Garage compilation released in 1997. But it isn't far off in terms of quality tracks on offer, this one has maybe less rarer tracks than the first one in my opinion. My standout tracks here are probably the rare dub by Manny & Konrad of an Eightball label classic! And Matt Wood's 1994 garage groover which reminds me of clubbing at Hard Times club in Leeds, which i think is where it was at that time? The House 2 House track is pure deepness right from the opening chords. There are obvious classics on offer which don't need mentioning.

one small trivia: track 2.10, Vanessa Evelyn 'Sister Sister (Manny & Konrad Dub)'... well, er... the version featured herein seems very, very very rare. Actually, I never saw it anywhere else, it seems it never surfaced, even as a promo copy on Eight Ball. Well, until someone submits the adequate promo copy, if they got it.

This is probably one of the best house/garage compilations ever released ! Didier Lestrade, a long-time activist of the Parisian underground house scene (journalist and party promoter), joined forces with Patrick Thevenin (another house music journalist) to release this incredible selection of deep, moody, soulful songs. In spite of the title, there are not so many Paradise Garage classics on the two CDs, but mainly soulful house anthems from 1989 to now on, Lestrade's idea being to gather the kind of tracks that Larry Levan could have played if only he had lived longer ...
In fact Lestrade and Thevenin had no right to use "Paradise Garage" as a title, and Mel Cheren (owner of West End records, former co-owner of the Paradise Garage) sued them for that. I don't know how it ended, but a "Paradise Garage 3" compilation was never released anyway !
