While ATM Records' surf and hot rod reissues and compilations are generally must-haves for fans of those genres, this particular collection is the exception. Fans of true instrumental surf music will likely find this one way too bogged down with marginal pop vocal material (e.g., The City Surfers, Bobby Pickett) for their liking. (That said, what fan of Beach Boys/Jan & Dean period surf vocals doesn't adore the three Honeys tracks? Sublime gal-group surf pop.)
