Track 1 taken from RI 23. Note: Release number one. Made for the frozen dancefloor. Beyond style.
Track 2 taken from RI 24. Note: Elevator music. Hi-res mellow textures. Laid back 20 Hz. Understand?
Track 3 taken from RI 25. Note: Very synthetic virtual noise. NASA did not complain yet. Psychedelic.
Track 4 taken from RI 26. Note: Hypnotising lounge music. A splendid time is guaranteed for all...
Track 5 taken from RI 27. Note: Nature is within the machine. Randomness as an organizing element.
Track 6 taken from RI 28. Note: This is no fake. End of century. Magic display. 27 digital snapshots.
Track 7 taken from RI 29. Note: The biologists biggest enemy is biology itself: what about musicians?
Track 8 taken from RI 31. Note: Freestyleflowingnonstandardpolyrhythmicatomisationretrofuture.
Track 9 taken from RI 32. Note: A binary amplified super stereo recording. Beauty: total separation.
Note on track 10: The Gaussian surface algorythm. Reality operating without science.
Note on track 11: Crude groove but smart visuals! Pictures of Jap girls in synthesis.
Rather Interesting would like to thank: Arielle for her biological knowledge, inspiration and visual raw material, Niko Heyduck for the scan supply on 'BASS', Victor Sol for sample abuse and ideas on sound, Dandy Jack and Pink Elln for music, KJ and Zille for food, Tetsu Inoue for collaborating and his musical visions, Ingrid Baier for various sounds on 'Flowerhead' and the unrecorded air trumpet, the Phoenix Bazootyhead family for the valuable time, Mr. Namloop for handling, Charles Uzzell Edwards for selecting and Olaf Finkbeiner for the beginning. Rather Interesting is greeting: DJames Dean Brown, Bleed, Haruomi Hosono and all at Medium Inc., Oliver Ross, Sven Petersen, Bill Laswell and all those unmentioned who supported, inspired and listened. Front picture taken without permission from somewhere. A computer animated video entitled 'Dream Tribe' has been created by Protean Vision Quest which are based at The National Centre For Computer Animation, Bournemouth University, for the title 'Rather Sleep Than Dance'.
The artwork layout and colours on the "Real Intelligence" compilations are sampled from the two early IDM compilations entitled "Artificial Intelligence" on Warp Records, UK (although the colours are reversed - AI1 and RI2 are green, AI2 and RI1 are maroon). The "Real Intelligence" title is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Warp album titles.
Timing printed on the back sleeve is wrong.
