Ah, the reappraisal of old, overlooked music. When does it end? When is it warranted? Sure, it's fun to discover hidden gems from our parents' generation they had no idea existed, and a kind of rebellion to like it when they likely would've laughed at it. Who could've guessed that the bottom of the barrel of 70s soft rock schlock would one day be repackaged in a slick, $25 double LP by a cool label ("music archivists"), and suddenly thought of as good music. None of this stuff is horrible exactly, and in all honesty I only made it half way through... but, to these ears, it's clear why it never got much attention. This is truly the blandest of the bland, and I have to assume the main factor in its enjoyment today is a sense of irony. All that said, Don't Be So Nice is a great tune!

What an amazing consistently good album this is, it almost sounds like an "artist album" made by the same group of musicians. Rather sad to know that all these musicians were completely overlooked in their own time but kudos and a huge "well done" to Numero for unearthing so many hidden gems so that they will live on - they sure don't make music of this quality these days! I really hope there's at least a "Volume 2" - 5+ stars!
