Considering the popularity and major success given by 'The Best Dance Album... Ever' since Volume 1 in 1993, this is one of the biggest flops in dance music history. While Parts 8 and 9 were a bit on the weak side, you really have no idea what terrible music is until you buy this one.

The first disc is full of useless, boring and forgettable non-dance anthems that don't belong in such a 'Best Dance Album', let alone be considered as dance. The only inclusions worth listening to are Spiller's Groove Jet, Madison Avenue's Don't Call Me Baby, Lene Marlin's Sitting Down Here (Tin Tin Out Mix), Cher's Believe, Vengaboys's Uncle John From Jamaica and DJ Alligator's The Whistle Song. Honestly, it's that bad!

The second disc actually had a lot going for it, at least in the first half. What we were given were some highly memorable proper 'dance' hits like Melanie C's I Turn To You, Toca's Miracle by Fragma, Watergate's Heart Of Asia, William Orbit's Barber's Adagio For Strings and my favourites - Marc Et Claude I Need You're Lovin', Frankie Goes To Hollywood's The Power Of Love and Aurora's Ordinary World. It all turns sour and utterly dreadful after Bob Marley's Sun Is Shining, believe me, none of the remaining tracks were memorable dance, if even dance in the slightest.

Luckily, it's not the end of the world. For those of you who are looking for an album containing popular dance hits from the year 2000, I would highly recommend 'The Best Club Anthems... Ever! 2K' which contains some of these, but far more memorable hits from the 'clubbing' side.
