This could have been the first album of Nick Holder. He is involved on nearly all the tracks included here. The three first are amongst his first compositions (1990-91). It sounds a bit dated now: some of the sounds used on this are now so usual, or just too 80's. There is not a lot of depth, although some of the melodic lines are interesting. Then, on track 4, it really begins: Troy Brown (also in his first years) kicks in with "Yo!". A very simple, but effective track. "Hustle Baby" brings back Nick Holder, and it's already much better. A distinctive flavour of that period (1993), groovy samples, rustic atmosphere. "The Phat Track" is also a very good achievement (although there are a lot of similarities with the previous Troy Brown track). There are some weird vocals: some are spoken in the water or something like that. Marcus Turcotte is into atmospheric deep house, very moody ("Ambiessence" says it all and "Sax Appeal" is very catchy, although I don't like sax much). Nick Holder then returns. The seductive mix of "Erotic Illusions" samples the rhythm of Chicago's "Streetplayer" (a year or so before Kenny Dope and "The Bomb"). Less interesting stuff in my point of view. Overall a nice package. The Canadian House sound of the 90's is immortalized.

DNH Records have released countless of spectacular house music releases over the years. This hard to find release features most of my favourite DNH releases. 'Soundwaves', with its brilliant synth line, 'Hustle Baby' with its groovy beat and pleasant vocals to 'Ambiessence', a deeeeeeeeep house track that is so unique, I cannot describe it - this is definitely a CD to own if you would like to find out Nick Holder's DNH sound.

Could you imagine all these popular DNH releases in the early-mid 1990s to be released on this ONE CD? I still cant believe my luck on finding this CD. Simply amazing.
