I picked up the volume I of the Deepest Shade of Techno back in 1995 at the Library of the town I lived when I was in France. I made an illegal copy at that time because I could not find it in records shops and Discogs was not even a figment of someone's imagination yet. I cherished this copy for as many reasons as the number of artists on that compilation. It was this CD that made me discover UR, Claude Young, Octave One, John Beltran, and Eddie Flashing Fowlkes. I owe it to whoever at SSR Records for putting this project up. Fastforwarding 20 years later, I found this in a bin at a record store and I am amazed they did a volume II! Well, I own legally a copy for both :)

One of the best compilation I have! You can't have it unless if you take it from I rigor-mortised cold hand!

And thank you, Universe or God or Allah, for SSR Records/Crammed Music as they brought us Solar Quest, Nav Katze, Aural Expansion, the Freezone compilations, Geir Jenssen's Bleep project, and Carl Craig's More Song About Food And Revolutionary Art.
