I only have this reissue of the album, and no original, naturally.
But its a nice release with great packaging and quiet vinyl for the most part.
The presentation is quite full sounding with a nice spectrum utilized. And thats probably really all you need for this music.
My one gripe which probably has more to do with the recording itself is how the vocals are often too big in the soundstage. A common mistake among singer songwriter works in my mind as it doesnt portray a faithful in the room image. Its more like there is a giantess between the speakers. But for the times its closer to just right, its quite right.

On another note, if you are looking for something VERY similar I suggest Color Green by Sibylle Baier. You could probably mistake it for the same artist as Vashti and they are both 70s gems.

Golden Cut review: https://www.discogs.com/Vashti-Bunyan-Just-Another-Diamond-Day/release/640394
As I finally find a copy of this I can now compare it to the newer Branch Music reissue.
Most important to note I think is the similarities, they really are close in terms of sound. I often second guess myself on any differences I thought to hear at all, but ultimately I think the edge if anything would go to the Dicristina Golden cut. There seems to be a slightly more vibrant sound to it, although perhaps Im fooled by it being slightly louder overall? Also, the separation of instruments on some tracks seems slightly superior here on the Golden release.
Again, these are very minor at best and whats really important in this case I feel is to have a quiet playing copy, which my Golden isnt so much when compared to the Branch, but thats neither here nor there since mine was bought used and looks somewhat worn.
The Branch does also feel a little nicer with its 180 grams of mass however and the vinyl really is dead quiet.
Speaking of cosmetics though, the sleeves are rather different unlike the sound. The Branch sporting a more blue tint while the Dicristina is greener. I like the cardboard stock for the older Golden reissue but the smoother and shinier paper of the Branch is also great. The newer also has slightly crisper areas on the image, like the title text.
Ultimately both will suit most people, but if you want the best of these reissues then you might as well go with the Dicristina release that includes a 7" with it.

This is a beautiful release - the gatefold and inner sleeves are well printed and the vinyl is silent and sounds gorgeous. I wish there would be more re-issues of this quality for the likes of Townes Van Zandt and Jackson C Frank...

Indeed an excellent reissue, sounds very fresh and something to own (as you know you'll never have an original)

Excellent reissue, so much better than the hopeless Dicristina one!
