Vessel's dark and mysterious debut, ORDER OF NOISE, starts off with the ambiance and deep bass of "Vizar," summoning you to a new world. Vocal bits haunt "Stillborn Dub," which reverberates with Oriental-sounding pentatonic melodies, while "Silten" and "Scarletta" start in a much more industrial direction before the chords build in the foreground. "Lache" has elements of electro funk creep into its spirit, though traces of earlier Orientalism remain, and "Aries" lets its delicate melodies ram right through. "2 Moon Dub," however, is a little less focused, but the 80s brightness of "Plane Curves" compensates admirably. "Court of Lions" begins with a rhythmic workout, but it shifts into a scrum of synths. But "Villaine" ends the album much as it started: with dark atmospherics. A strong, mesmerizing work.
