I personally like the picture disc but you can't tell me this is the same quality audio as a traditional pressing. I'm usually tempted to turn things up on my system; this one I turned down

Fun Staples rapping over house? Ok, "Big Fish Theory" is definitely a departure from his previous projects, and that's not a bad thing - though his strongest moments are when Vince is more on the traditional tip on "745", the call-and-response "Yeah Right" & "Homage" (perfect Rozay interpolation), "BagBak", and the title cut "Big Fish". The only problem with that particular track annd "Samo" (which holds the best verse on the album in where Staples emulates Rocky's flow pattern on the first verse dropping cold bars comparing himself to ODB in one) is that yeah there is more than enough room for a verse from the featured MC's. Alas, it appears that Vince had let alot of baggage go since his last record (even though he still raps about the pressures of society and the effects of the world in his own mind like on "Party People" & "BagBak", but that's just the job of the artist that Vince more than rises to the occasion for) for this album to even exist, his voice sounds lighter on the intro "Crabs In A Bucket" which carries cadenecally throughout the rest of the album mostly, definitely something to get adjusted to, but eventually just like the weight disperesed after letting go - you get used to it.
Kilo Kish is super peaceful throughout this album by the way, that "Alyssa Interlude" too?! "The Big Fish Theory" - a light album in runtime, features, and vibrations but definitely not on content.

Excellent quality. No pops or cracks at all and the audio is crisp and clear. If you want this album on vinyl, don't get thrown off by it being a picture disc.

Pretty hit or miss on the quality here, of course to be expected with a picture disc. Tracks like Big Fish and 745 play surprisingly well, but busier tracks like Love Can Be and Yeah Right take a huge hit in dynamics and overall clarity in the mix. Really wish they went with a more traditional pressing on this one.

This was my first picture disc as I'd heard bad things. But this sounds great. Also, as a bonus, it also looks great.

Arrived today, finally! Number 535. Have to say, I'm quite impressed by the sound quality - Bang Bak sounds particularly awesome.

It's a fantastic album, but the double picture disc isn't necessary. And the delays were annoying.
It sounds pretty good--for a picture disc. Would probably sound better if it weren't one. If it's going to be split over 2 discs, it should have at least been 42rpm.
Yeah Right, for instance, sounds kind of terrible on my copy. I can hear a little distortion on it that isn't there on the digital copy.

Very interesting way to release this on vinyl. A single disc of regular vinyl would have made a ton of sense and been much easier for every party involved, but that ain't what they did. Instead we got two picture discs for 36:04 of music.

First off, the packaging is miserable. It comes in 2 clear plastic sleeves (you know, the kind that ruin records over time) that are connected on one side and taped together on the other. The records had busted through each side of both sleeves when mine arrived, leaving several inch jagged splits in the plastic. Of course these harmful partial dust covers went right into my trash, and I am now storing the discs in MoFi sleeves inside a plastic outer. An actual jacket would have been too convenient and protective I guess.

The signed insert came with a horrible crease about a quarter of the way down across the whole thing. Having an actual jacket for the records and this insert to go into would have remedied that easily, but it was just loose in the box, so of course it was bent in the post.

Onto the picture discs themselves, they actually did a bang up job here. Once you get over the fact that putting any serious album on a picture disc is a horrible idea in the first place, these are done as well as possible. Simply put, these discs bump. The sound quality isn't immaculate as there is definitely vocal distortion on some tracks, but the instrumentals absolutely bang, as a result of how well spaced out the album is. We're averaging less than 10 minutes of music per side here, and it shows. I think this is hands down the best sounding picture disc I have ever played on my table.

So while this is far from my ideal version of a vinyl release for this album, it'll do just fine for listening. Just a little extra flipping and disc switching, and it would have been really nice to get an actual jacket.

Got mine today. Sounds good so far, looks nice. Pretty happy with it. Even if it's very late, seems like Vince's deluxe vinyl packages are always solid... the Summertime 06 package was great and sounded good as well.
