This really is a great album, occupying the ground between Atoms for Peace and Built to Spill in my opinion.

This album is a sonic wonder. It has elements of electronica, lo-fi indie rock, almost proggy texturing, and a great (and I mean really great) set of tracks. If I were pressed to compare them, I would say they have an Amnesiac-era Radiohead kind of vibe, but a whole lot looser...atmospheric, and at the same time more direct and less artsy. The album is also completely cohesive without ever feeling repetitive, which is a huge plus in my book. The artwork is not astounding (although it is much more to my liking than Feedbands' first release), and the marbling isn't exquisite, but it is well pressed and sounds well-mastered throughout. I would definitely buy it again if the band decided to repress it in a nice gatefold or the like, and would recommend it to anyone who likes a relaxed-yet-fun, atmospheric rock sound with a perfect pop sensibility (although, it is totally devoid of any lack of depth that many may associate with the pop genre).

Regardless of what you think about the service--I've been a member for both of the two months it's been running, I've been impressed thus far--I'll say this: The Vliets are special. This album is really something that'll make any music fun--casual or collector--sit up and pay attention within the first few bars of the first track. I really enjoyed May's Unknown Relatives release as well, but THIS band is what I'd call a diamond in the rough. With just these two under their collective belt, I'd say that Feedbands is doing their due-dilligence...and, hey, if you don't happen to like it, send it back, or cancel.

Got this off of Feedbands. While the concept certainly seems strange, I think it's worth the risk. From what I can tell, the bands that they get are pretty good. Especially this record - The Vliets - I think could be worth something. The Record itself is actually going to be warming up to one of my favorite albums, it's right up my alley. I'm not sure what to call the genre, a low-fi rock with sounds reminiscent of the psychedelic and progressive days.

So youre telling me there is no other way to get this release other than online or this vinyl thru feedbands? And how many are pressed for each artist? Seems like a shaky idea but if the bands are truly great and its supe rlimited, yeah I would buy one, but then why couldnt these guys get a record deal or self release if theyre so amazing? Anyway, interesting concept but I'd like more figures, anyone out there know?
