This is briliant stuff! I guess I played my copy for a million times at least. Back then when it came out and still from time to time. Like on Negatron with Eric Forest on vocals, which gives the music a certain kick that maybe was needed at that time, distorted, heavy, brutal. The songs are quite long, heavy as a tank and really intensive, the record seems like concept album as everything seems to be connected and inseparable.
Shortly before Voivod had nearly been disbanded, so the records with Forest meant a new start. Hard to believe Negatron came out just two years after Outer Limits and some years after Angel Rat, which were completely different affairs... Negatron was a good record, but Phobos simply kicked it off. This record sounds like I imagine a deserted battlefield on a distant world: dark, dirty, metallic, drenched in blood and fossil fuels, a totally dystopian vision, as if the record sleeve of Röööaaarrr had been translated into music. Maybe this vision describes our own future, a deserted earth. I don't hope so.

Why this excellent record never have a proper Lp re-issue ?
There is only the phobos/negatron Lp with some songs from each album but this is not enough !

Really a highlight in this late nineteeth Voïvod area! I am not the biggest Voïvod Fan, but this album is really en Point! What I dig in their style then: Dark and Hard, alternative, experimental Noise avangarde Metal like in their early days! Sounds different than in their more pink floyd kinda melodical phase in the early nineteeth, which was also not that bad as some say! Now ten years later sounds still modern. absolutely timeless!
