During the latter part of the 2000's, DJ Day-Mar from Holland was thrashing a particular track that really stuck out from everything else she was playing. After some detective work, I was shocked to find out that the song was called A Journey Through Time by Waldhaus. The fact a Hard Techno artist was able to write an exceptional Millennium Hardcore track makes it even more intriguing.

Probably the first thing that hits you is the powerful kickdrum used in the track, the distorted tail might cause speaker damage. The initial arpeggio chord progression is wonderful and quite surprising, but then you get uplifting piano breakbeat! This sets the stage for a more traditional big Virus styled melody which still sounds great on a massive sound system. Three quarters in, you get broken Industrial Hardcore beats, at times they are out of sync, which is fairly DJ unfriendly. The track ends with a computer game version of the main melody till it grinds to a complete halt.

Superb track from a record I would never have guessed, I suppose you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
