Many people end up disappointed with this album (and band in general) because it doesn't meet their idea what Krautrock is, especially since this group was connected with the Cosmic Jokers, since Jürgen Dollase and Harald Großkopf had been involved in the Cosmic Jokers (Großkopf also played on some of Klaus Schulze's solo albums too, Schulze was also involved in the Cosmic Jokers).

1972's Blitzkrieg was Wallenstein debut, and what you really have here is hard-edged prog rock with a jamming quality it, and when the Mellotron rears its head, the band goes into a symphonic direction. And while the group had an American with guitarist Bill Barone, it's a bit ironic that English language misspellings actually appeared, particularly the first cut, "Lunetic". This song demonstrates what you're really getting with Wallenstein, and that's not exactly Ash Ra Tempel-like space rock. Jamming prog, with guitar and Farfisa electric piano. "The Theme" features a rather cheesy piano theme, but enough rocking passages to let me forgive that, and I like that symphonic passage with the Mellotron. Much of the rest of the album is more of the same, prog rock, rather than spacy Krautrock. If you expect something on the lines of Ash Ra Tempel or Cosmic Jokers, this might not meet your expectations, but is a good album if you like prog rock in general.
