As much as I appreciate Westbam as a pioneer of electronic music, and as much I like some of his newer, more electro and hip hop oriented works: This album quite sucks. It's the obvious product of the mainstream, overground, commercial Techno and Rave hype in Germany around 1993, partly not even clearly distinguishable from the Euro Dance trash that went around at the same time. Tunes like "Celebration Generation", "Bam Bam Bam" or "Wizard of Sonic" just sound like a mixture of Techno, Euro Dance and cheap Pop; and even granted as that they don't work too well, compared for example to the similar minded album "Raveland" by Marusha from the same year (also produced by Westbam, by the way), which works much better and can even be considered a really good and enjoyable album. Here instead, just a few tunes don't sound totally annoying, especially "Club Canossa", "The Raving Society" and "Strictly Bam" are somehow enjoyable tunes, the latter reminding of the older Westbam stuff from the 80's (which I usually don't like too much either, but fine here) on the one hand and U96's "Ambient Underworld" (which is directly sampled) on the other hand. "The Raving Society" has something of UK Happy Hardcore - quite nice. Still, even these three "highlights" of the album aren't real great tracks and do in no case give stuff for a recommendation for the album as a whole. Better buy Marusha's album or - even better! - the U96 album "Das Boot" if you want to go into the origin of Eurpoean popular Techno music. Or switch directly to the Dutch Euro House acts of the same time (and earlier), Frank de Wulf for example or, why not, Technotronic.
