Actually i'm listening to this one right now. I have this cd for a while now, and i didnt listen to it for some time now, so yesterday i picked it up again, and i love it!, this a cd that has to grow on you by time i think. CD one is not that bad, but yes i can imagine its to slow for some people, cd 2 is just awesome, especially the last couple of tracks. CD 3 is nice aswell, it starts with some experimental sounds, some dub, it almost sounds like reggea, but some nice house starts from track 10 on. I give this cd 4/5, i recommend to those who have this, to listen it more often, and i mean really listen.

The second disk is fine, especially the closing part of it. Kinda minimal and deep. The first and most of the third disks are no good at all. I've rated this album 3/5 on a general scale, but if I were to rate it comparing to the Balance series I would not give it more than 2/5 cause Balance series is so good.

I read some negative reviews of this release on Amazon.co.uk, but, believing in the quality of the Balance series, I was curious to find out for myself. While I have yet to see the light in mix one, mix 2 and 3 brought excellent listening experience definitely worth recommending. Here are my impressions in more detail:

Disc 1 not really my cup of tea, had to agree with the reviewers who described it as a bit monotonous, although I realise that my dislike for it is just a question of preference. To my ears the first mix sounds a bit uninspired and I get impatient very soon into it. If you're into disco, though, you could have a blast.

Disc 2: This was a more rewarding ride. This one is more about house, deep house, tech house and dubstep tracks - especially towards the end, with a few after-hour choices. The sounds and beats invite for a quirkier, richer listening experience. There's much less structure, but much more space and the overall impression from it is really satisfying (especially after a somewhat tiring first disc). The mix will allow your mind to roam free, track selection and mixing allow you to lose yourself, providing a backdrop for conversation or pre/after party listening. The last couple of tracks lull your mind into dreams.

Disc 3..... An absolute gem. It remained for a very long time undeservedly unappreciated by me. It took me TWO YEARS to see the light in it, in the track selection, its development and mixing. But now, it feels absolutely spot on and I can listen to it tirelessly back to back. Be warned though, it caused a lot of confusion at first and a lot of unsuccessful attempts at understanding it. I'm only happy I gave it the time it needed to sink in and grow on me. A weird mixture, starting off slowly, with 7 or 8 dub tracks..... then Track 9 with Patti Jo's soulful funk, then, somehow, Jordan Fields 'I Wanna Thank You' (Track 13) kicks in out of nowhere, hitting exactly the right spot, making the first half of the mix appear even more out of place, but, somehow, it all works and it's genious. The energetic second half feels like listening to an altogether different mix that somehow mutated by some weird and wonderful magic from the first. Great, great stuff, and I'd love to have a chance to thank Will Saul for the ride. Also, to apologise for not appreciating the genious behind the mix from the beginning.

To sum up, discs 2 and 3 are an amazing experience. Disc 1 escapes me, for now. Maybe, I will get it, one day, as I did the third one, given enough time. As for now, a big thumbs up for the amazing second and third.
