I have a question about this one. Had a discussion with a friend on whether this was released in 79 or in 80. Discogs reports the first press to be released in 1979 (25/12/78 actually). However, this seems impossible since according to various sources, including an interview with Greg Sage, the album was partially recorded on 4-track by himself in 1978, and rerecorded in a professional studio in late 1979 for Park Avenue records. Most sources state January 1980 as official release date, although some sources note that the release was available locally in Portland at end of December 1979. I hope that someone who knows more about the history of the band can shed some light on this, and am quite surprised that it so hard to get a solid answer to this :)

This repress is inferior to the 1st press in every way. The big issue is the horrid rep rainbo has and this repress is no exception. Such a shame. Stick to the original! Sounds better and was pressed on a heavier slab. It’s a lot cheaper too which it should be given it’s an original.

I’m hanging on to this, shoulda been a classic. Sounds in your face and aggressive like the music’s supposed to.

I'll talk non-flipper related business (hiss hiss at those fellas for sure) and get to the record itself: unless you're a die-hard like me, you likely don't need this release since all of it has been previously released in some form over the years. The first thing I noticed was a slight wobble/warp that did not effect play. In fact, I had that issue with more than one RSD release this year. It's not too bad, luckily and the record itself sounds fantastic. Maybe it's a placebo effect of sorts but it does sound different than the previous reissues with more detail. You can definitely feel and hear that tube-y guitar sound made so famous by Greg Sage. The reflective material used for the album art is a nice touch and helps further distinguish this from previous pressings. This might have benefited from being a gatefold considering the addition of the 7". The single sleeve felt a bit overstuffed. Pretty cool over all. I'd give this a solid 4.

Is this getting a standard black pressing later on?? Usually that is the case
