Magnificient 12inch, and a landmark for those who'd want a quality taste of what has been named "Balearic revival" in the past 5 years. You know what i'm talking about : a handful of long haired, sometimes bearded producers have tried to revive an era of 'musical melange' that would include vintage 'spacey/kraut' synths and pads, a relaxed attitude, slo-mo disco tempo, sunfuelled voices reminding Chris Rea, William Pitt or Double 25 years later, and jazz-funk 'hispanic' guitar licks here and there.
Most of the time the results have been pleasant to the ear but quite inoffensive and instantly forgettable, unfortunately falling on the wrong side of 'nu-lounge'.
And then you have things like this record, a superb two-sided futuristic mediterranean cruise, with a B-Side ("Absynth") that lives up its title and leaves the listener floating in balearic heaven.
