Xenia Beliayeva cements her darkwave credentials with her debut, EVER SINCE. The title track combines the dark synth-pop grooves with almost romantic lyrical content. But the heavier "Mind Damage" roughs up the proceedings some before "New Day" wobbles in to swoon away your ears. "Know Me," meanwhile, combines a growling bass with a bubbling melody, and the nearly martial stridence of "Secrets & Spies" will have your goosestepping on the dancefloor. The tempo sinks back down on "Cry To ," though the energy perks back up with "Just A While" and even gets a little warmer with the breaks of "DNA." But the moody coolness returns on "Satellite" to close the album. A solid and enjoyable listen.
