Is the monolith mix different to the original? (Sounds different to me) And if so which release has the original mix?

I remember when we used to have rave hotline phone numbers which were advertised in music magazines and newspapers in the early 90s. These were prerecorded messages which advertised local rave events e.t.c. in the area. I called one once and it had Zero B Lock Up playing in the background prior to the track getting a full release on Ffrr records.

Was lucky to see Zero B at Rezerection 3 on the 11-07-91 at Newcastle Mayfair. Amazing nights there. I remember my mate had a different copy to me but i am sure the mixes are the same, not sure what came first.

Am I right in thinking that the Ignition Records release of this is the 1st release? I always thought Great Asset was the original but looking at the Great Asset release it says In the notes that the IGN catalogue number is in the runout.

'Lock Up' has already cemented itself into the catagory of 'Rave Classic', but on this release there is another hidden gem. I have to confess that the version of 'Spinning Wheel (Rumpel Mix)' on this EP is possibly one of the most awesome oldskool B-Sides ever. The emotive xylophone melody (with the neat reversal at the end) over an unfussy breakbeat creates a hypnotic groove for you to lock into that the 'Spinning Wheel (The Rumple Remix)' on Ffrreedom release seems to loose.

This version of 'Spinning Wheel' is featured on Donovan 'Bad Boy' Smith's excellent oldskool Double Mix CD.

Can anyone tell me if the piano breakdown is an original composition or sampled from elsewhere?

I bought this to have "Lock Up" on 12". Its a bit of a played out anthem at this point so when I heard the track on the flipside I was pleasently surprised. The real under-rated gem on this 12" is "Module (V.C.F.)" Its a real deep and dark jungle tekno sort of track. I previously heard this track in a Kleez-One set but it failed to impress. On its own or book ended with happy tracks, this one really stands out.
