For Shoppers

Make Savvy Selections

As you browse the Discogs Marketplace, refer to the median release value to compare prices and ensure what you’re paying is fair. Before you make a purchase, review the recent sales history of the release to better understand the pricing for that item’s condition.

For Sellers

Ensure Pricing Fairness

As a seller, you can also utilize release statistics to determine the current value of your inventory. When you list an item for sale, Discogs will provide a suggested price based on its version, media and sleeve condition, and recent sales history.

For COLLECTORS

Know Your Collection Value

We analyze sales history data to automatically calculate the combined value of all the items you add to your Discogs Collection, which is a free tool that you can use to catalog and organize the music you own.

Estimated Item Value is Based on Sales History

Discogs’ sales history is an exclusive feature that provides the current estimated value of vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and other physical music formats. We track the value of every item recently sold in the Marketplace and use this data to determine the lowest, median, and highest value for each variation.

Sales Are Tracked in Our Marketplace

Fueled by independent sellers from around the world, Discogs’ Marketplace offers millions of vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and more. We track the sale of each item, including its price, condition, and specific release details.

Low, Median & High Item Value is Estimated

This sales history is then used to calculate the low, median, and high values of each release, providing fair market data to both collectors and sellers. We estimate based on the release’s 30 most recent transactions in the Marketplace, if that number of sales is available.

Release Estimates Contribute to Collection Value

This same data also helps you understand the low, median, and high value of your entire record collection, which is automatically calculated based on the combined value of the records you catalog in your Discogs Collection.

How to Access Item Value Statistics at Any Time

By accessing this historical sales data on a release, you can assess its fair market value, whether you’re buying or selling music on Discogs or in your favorite record store.
