Testing, Testing: Updates Coming to Inventory Management, Cart, and More
Our founder and CEO recently shared an overview of how we’re modernizing the technical foundation that Discogs was built on over two decades ago. Untangling this knot is the first step towards enhancing your experience.
We are excited about the first phase of upgrades that will be ready for you soon, including improvements to several site features.
But first…we are going to test out a few more things.
We aim to introduce updates deliberately and carefully, but also quickly. In some cases, that means inviting select users to a trial or conducting random tests, collecting more feedback, and then rolling out changes to everyone. Most people won’t be immediately affected, but we’ll notify you directly if you are.
In other cases, we’ll roll out changes sitewide like we did with the Artist and Label pages in the Database. Inevitably, some bugs may surface as a result – but identifying these bugs is a crucial step in updating the platform. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we go through this process together.
Here’s a sneak peek at what we’re working on:
- Fixing the infrastructure of sellers’ inventory management tools so they are faster and more reliable.
- Modernizing the cart and checkout to make it easier to shop for music.
- Improving the performance of the pages that house all of the recorded music data cataloged by the community.
- Notifying you of important information without having to go to your Discogs inbox.
- Updating the way we alert you when your Wantlist items are for sale.
- Streamlining the app so that it looks and functions better.
- Upgrading the login and registration for Discogs accounts.
These small steps happening steadily in the background take us toward our ultimate goal of creating a new and improved Discogs experience for everyone. There’s much more to come, and you’ll be the first to know when they do.
