Discogs Welcomes Inaugural Members of New Community Advisory Turntable

Discogs, the premier destination for record collectors, today is thrilled to reveal the inaugural members of the newly formed Community Advisory Turntable

These individuals represent all facets of the Discogs community — record collectors, independent sellers, and music archivists alike. Each are active Discogs users selected after a robust search that included hundreds of applicants and months of interviews.

The Community Advisory Turntable will work closely with both the Discogs leadership team and fellow advisors to help guide the evolution of Discogs and advocate for the needs of our passionate community. Their feedback will help us prioritize our ongoing development activities so we can more effectively bring new features to the platform, update existing features, and address users’ questions or concerns.

“I’ve been waiting to unveil this group since we first floated the idea of the Community Advisory Turntable last year, so this announcement is particularly exciting for me,” said Discogs Founder and CEO Kevin Lewandowski. “Working with these individuals takes me back to the early days of Discogs when I was able to interact with users one-on-one. Now that the community has grown so dramatically, having these representatives of all types of Discogs users in the room with us is crucial to maintaining that connection and remaining responsive to their needs.”

“The Community Advisory Turntable will play a critical role in shaping the future of Discogs,” said Discogs COO Lloyd Starr. “These individuals were selected for both their unique perspective on the role Discogs plays in their lives, as well as their passion for music and record collecting. It’s an exciting and energetic group that I’m looking forward to working with.”

Serving as an independent facilitator of the Community Advisory Board is Rick Krim, a veteran music industry executive who has held such roles as Co-President of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, EVP of Artist Development at Republic Records, and EVP of Talent & Music Programming at VH1. He currently serves as the chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominating committee.

“As an active Discogs user, I’m honored to be the facilitator of this amazing group of advisors,” said Krim. “The fact that they’re volunteering their time and energy to this initiative illustrates their commitment and passion for Discogs, in particular, and the record-collecting community at large. Kudos to Discogs for welcoming these voices into their planning and development process.”

The first meeting of the Community Advisory Turntable will take place this fall, from which we will share the top highlights and takeaways with the entire Discogs community. As this effort unfolds, we will also consider adding new members to the Community Advisory Turntable.
