What to Know About the Discogs App Beta Test

The Discogs app is essential for any record collecting journey. With the app you can explore music, buy records, and manage your collection wherever you go.

We just invited some community members to participate in the evolution of Discogs by testing an update to the Discogs app.

What’s New For Your App Experience?

This beta version of the app was built on a streamlined foundation and will include some changes to your mobile experience.

• The first thing you’ll notice is a completely updated layout for the app.
• Explore new music, trending releases, articles, and other fun information that the rest of the Discogs community is excited about on the new homepage.
• Find what you’re looking for thanks to improved search functionality. Navigate to a master release to explore all versions of an album.
• Open your Discogs Collection on the app, then select the new randomizer button or shake your phone to rediscover some of your favorite records.

When Can You Get this App Version?

This version of the Discogs app is currently in an open beta test. The beta is only open to users on Android devices at this time. 

• Follow this link to review the complete instructions and join our Android testing group.
• If you have the Discogs app already, go to the Google Play Store and update the app. The newest update is the beta.
• If you don’t have the Discogs app, go to the Google Play Store and download it. As long as you download the app after you join the testing group, you will receive the beta as your first version.
• If you encounter an issue with either of the above options, please uninstall the app and redownload it.
• You can easily revert to the older version of the app by visiting the same link above and following the instructions for leaving the beta test.

Once we’ve concluded the beta, we will introduce an update to all users. At that time, if you already have the app on your phone and are opted into automatic updates, you can expect the latest version to download based on your preferences.

Once we completely modernize the app platform, we can focus on enhancing your experience and adding new features. You can look forward to the app updating dynamically as you and other users share feedback and help us prioritize what’s next. We are already planning several significant improvements in the coming months.
