The band's name comes from a line in David Bowie's song "Moonage daydream" (first released by Arnold Corns, 1971, then re-recorded for Bowie's 1972 album The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars): "You're squawking like a pink monkey bird".
