Bernhard Schmid (1535 - 1592) was a German (Alsatian) musician. Schmid (also called "B. Schmid d'Ä in some sources, or "Bernhard Schmidt") spent his youth in Strasbourg, where he was the organist at St. Thomas Church and, from 1564, the cathedral. His book on the music of the organ, published in 1577, contains music and dance and perform with such a tool. His book served as inspiration to many Dutch composers. His son, also named Bernhard Schmid, published in 1607 a book.
