Experimental Breakcore and Baroque group, started by French composer and multi-instrumentalist, Gautier Serre as a solo project in 2005.
Since 2017 it has become a band.
Wow, I am actually astounded by the crazy money this guy's records are selling for these days, considering that they really aren't that old. Just goes to show what a rabid fanbase he has (rightfully) accumulated. Luckily, he's been in my "buy on sight" category from the first time I heard his music and I managed to snag all of them. <3 I mean, it would be a real bummer to stumble upon music like this for the first time, go to grab some records, only to realize they are basically unobtainable. They should really re-press some of his albums though, especially the Moisissure + Poisson Soluble 2x12". He's a crazy mad musical genius and this stuff deserves to be heard far and wide.
It's quite amazing to see how far breakcore (which I stubbornly and unnecessarily insist on pigeonholing this as) has come. It's kind of a half forgotten dream of a genre these days and looks absolutely nothing like what I remember it as, but I still feel that old excitement every time I see there's a new Igorrr release. As far as doing your own thing and experimenting goes, the spirit of breakcore is alive and well in this dude's music.
One of the best and most original musicians, been listening since Poisson Soluble and still listening now, every album is fantastic but I suggest starting with Nostril if your new to it.
