Portray Heads

Synthpop, darkwave and minimal wave band from Matsuyama City, Japan.
Portray Heads was formed by Tohru Tomita in 1984 with Mikiharu Doi and Ayumi Tokunaga. They recorded several songs and two of them were released as a 7'' flexi single called Elaborate Dummy in May 1985. Ayumi Tokunaga soon left the band after the released and the band needed to look for another vocalist. They eventually found Yumi Ochi who was the perfect fit with a powerful deep voice, and she soon joined the band. The trio then recorded Oratorio in april 1986 and it was self-released both as a 7'' and as a cassette december 1986.
The band had trouble playing live because the city they were based in was a conservative city when it came to music. They rarely had the chance to ever play live and the band soon broke up after.
