America singer - songwriter.
Born: April 17, 1929, Tampa, Florida - August 17, 2002, Nolensville, Tennessee (liver cancer).
Raised mostly in southern Georgia, he was the son of entertainer "Pop" Winters who headed "The Southern Strollers".
He moved to Nashville in the 1950's. A strong vocalist noted for his yodeling and his longwinded singing. By the early 60's "The Yodeling King" was performing with Marty Robbins as a guitarist and vocalist. They remained friends with, performing with and social, until Robbins passing in 1982.
Two of his children, sons Donnie Winters and Dennis Winters, front The Winters Brothers Band. Don was brother of country singer Rita Robbins.
