Eye TV

New Zealand pop-rock act, used to be called The Nixons but had to change their name, so they called themselves Eye TV after the title of one of their songs

The name Eye TV comes from the title of an Iggy Pop song called 'TV Eye'. They were originally known as The Nixons, and were forced to change their name prior to their first tour of the United States, as there was another band in America called The Nixons. The band was formed on Waitangi Day, 1995.

The Eye TV song 'Wish It All Away' won the Flying Fish Music Video Of The Year in 1998. 'One Day Ahead' was the most played New Zealand song on radio and earned a 'Best Song' and 'Best Video' nomination at the annual New Zealand Music Awards.
