The Maytals
Profile: | Jamaican Ska & Reggae vocal trio formed by Toots Hibbert, Nathaniel "Jerry" Matthias & Henry "Raleigh" Gordon in 1961 as The Vikings (2) and made their first recordings in 1962 for coxsone Dodd. They later changed their name to The Maytals then finally to Toots & The Maytals (some sources say from a Byron Lee's idea following the death of producer Leslie Kong but it seems to have been used on some 1960s releases like Dog War / Little Flea or Sweet And Dandy). |
