In 1997 Ferry Corsten teamed up with producer Robert Smit for a project called 'Starparty'. Back then, Robert and Ferry had known each other very well for a long time already, since they used to live in the same neighbourhood in Rotterdam when they both were little kids. In the past they already did a couple of other productions and remixes together and they've decided to team up for a project called 'Starparty'. The result was a track called "I'm In Love". For this track Ferry and Robert used the vocal "I'm In Love With You" sample of the track "Peanut Butter", which is originally done by Gwen Guthrie. In 1995 Ferry and Robert already used the same vocal sample in the hardcore track "In Love With You", that was released under their alias "Sons Of Aliens" on the Terror Traxx label.

Ferry and Robert did another track together, called "Twister" in 1996. This track was released on the "I Feel Good EP" under their "Alter Native" alias on the Dutch label Blue Records. The Starparty track is actually an updated version of the "Twister" track. In 1997 when the original Startparty track was released it didn't became a success. If you listen to the original 1997 track now, you already hear some trance influences in it, but unfortunately not many people did understand the track.

Two years after the original release, Marc Romboy and Klaus Derichs (a.k.a. Marc et Claude) of the German label Alphabet City had the idea to ask Ferry and Robert to make a new version of the Starparty track. So besides the original version of "I'm In Love", Ferry and Robert made a brand new updated version in 1999. The re-release of "I'm In Love" included the new version and remixes by Marcel Hol (Hole In One), Steve Baltes and Steve Helstrip (En-Motion / The Thrillseekers). The 1999 release became a big success and it was played by many famous DJ's in their sets.

"I'm In Love" is actually the only track that was released under the Starparty alias.
