I was in Section 5 records on the Kings Road, London, in 1994. The guy behind the counter dropped "Your Destiny" and it really felt like you were part of a ground breaking scene. I've just played that record tonight and it still sounds utterly groundbreaking. Incredible.

Yo, let's not forget the engineer! Pete Parsons!!! Virtually every track he has engineered on has invariably become a classic! So a big shout to him and of course Daniel Chapman aka DJ Crystl (a very good combination!). P.s. Daniel Chapman was a great artist! I wonder if he actually sprayed painted any pieces as his tag style and character are spot on!

Another man who is never mentioned! Crystal was a don simple .. defo in the conversation for top 10 producers in the scene, quality over quantity every time.

Not sure how Dj Crystal slipped under the radar?? He and Bukem were far ahead production wise. He was on Weekend Rush as well and his tunes were played by others so he should be at the forefront of DnB today.

One of the few artists whose entire discography you need to own. Crystl had a unique sound unparalleled at the time (we're still talking '93/94 here) known for long, deep athmospheric breakdowns (Sweet Dreamz) as well as insane drum patterns (Crystalize, Warprive, the Dark Crystl and Experience). Credit to this man!

Good mid-90s artist, hasn't been seen in nearly a decade though.
PS: "183" is a (maxi-)single, not an album. Someone needs to fix that.

I agree with below statements. Ever since I chanced upon some Crystl tracks on an old cassette tape (no idea where I got the tape!) I have been listening to his tracks. Some of favourite chopped up breaks - plenty of funk in these grooves - it's not so dense and overloaded with bass that all of the freshness has been squeezed out. Go check pendulum for that crap.

Meditation, The Dark Crystl, Suicidal. He can die in his bed at 85 years of age with huge fucking smile on his face knowing he made those masterpieces.

Despite the fact that his output is spasmodic, this man can lay claim to the fact that his vision helped guide the music that became drum and bass. His classic recordings for Deejay Recordings etc. will always be relevant throughout the changing times. The music is hypnotic, deep and with a perception of aural depth only rivalled by Photek's early recordings. Dare I say it not matched though !!!!!!
